We're excited to kick off the second annual Colorado Get Movin’ Challenge on May 1 to motivate thousands of Coloradans to kick-start a healthier lifestyle through physical activity while also demonstrating that we are the most active state in the nation!
The challenge, sponsored by Kaiser Permanente and supported by Gov. John Hickenlooper, encourages Coloradans to engage in 30 minutes of physical activity for 30 days while tracking their progress with a free MapMyFitness account.
New this year is a friendly competition between cities and towns across Colorado to earn the title of the most active Colorado city. Rural and mountain communities are on a level playing field with larger cities because all participants' minutes will be tallied and averaged.
Anyone ages 14 and up can participate for as many days as they like, doing whatever activity they like, and all the minutes tracked will contribute to the state’s accumulated total. Those who are 18 or older and current Colorado residents will be eligible to compete for prizes.
Prizes up for grabs
Participants who have completed at least 30 minutes of movement daily for 10 to 19 days will receive a LiveWell Colorado smartphone cling wipe; participants who have completed 20 to 29 days will receive a LiveWell Colorado water bottle; and anyone who completes all 30 days will receive a LiveWell Colorado hat and free meal from Chipotle Mexican Grill. All participants who complete at least 10 days will receive a Chipotle Mexican Grill buy one, get one free entree coupon, and participants who complete at least five days will be entered into a grand prize drawing to occur after the challenge is over. Grand prizes include:
- Two consecutive night stay at The Curtis Hotel in Denver
- $100 Boulder Running Company gift certificate
- Chipotle Mexican Grill catering for 20
- 2 Fitbit® Flex Wireless Activity + Sleep Wristbands
- 2 adidas® Brazuca FIFA 2014 World Cup Official Match Soccer Ball
